Faith Made Public
Faith Made Public has as its task “influencing the influencers,” believing that every Christian is a disciple, a leader and a social influencer. Culture is never redeemed top down but from the ground up — when publics are formed by faith. FMP’s mission is to educate and thereby transform every Christian into a “sacred anthropologist," who comprehends the culture of the late-modern world and takes responsibility to love our neighbour as fellow image-bearers for the sake of promoting the communion of God in this world.
Dr Craig Heilmann
Theologian and ethicist Dr Craig Heilmann has advanced degrees in theology and ethics from Duke University (USA) and Regent College (Canada), and has published in theology and ethics. His doctoral studies advanced a thesis in virtue ethics, human formation, and Christian discipleship. Craig is the husband of Kim and father to three adult sons.
After planting a church in Auckland, NZ, and pastoring together for 15 years, Craig and Kim returned to living in Australia in 2023. Their vision today for Faith made Public is to “make faith public” and to show why it matters to belong to a “public made by faith,” believing that only a turn back towards the God revealed in Jesus Christ can bring cultural renewal in the West, and that cultural and civilizational regeneration is not a task that can be achieved by contemporary two-party democratic politics. It is grassroots humanity and civic friendship that causes flourishing community – bottom up not top down.
Apart from pioneering Faith made Public, Craig is lecturer in Ministry and Social studies and Academic Director at Christian Heritage College (Brisbane), sits on the board of the Upper Room church (Auckland NZ) and on the Spiritual Support Team at Hillsong church (Noosa), as well as on the counsel of Religious Leaders of the NZ Free Speech Union. Craig is currently a member of the Human Research Ethics Committee, Bond University (Gold Coast), and a member of the Australian Academy for the Study of Religion (AASR), the American Psychological Association (APA), the American Political Science Association (APSA), and the International Society for MacIntyrean Enquiry (ISME), as well as the Society for Pentecostal Studies.
Craig’s current research projects are in public theology, and together Craig and Kim are currently engaged through Faith made Public in helping parents and church leaders in areas of mission toward GenZ and emerging youth culture.
Kim Heilmann
Kim worked with young people for many years in Youth for Christ before founding the hugely successful mental health programme - Attitude, throughout NZ schools.
Like Craig she has more than 30 years experience in ministering to young people out on the frontline.
Their shared passion and understanding of contemporary issues and competing options, puts them in a unique position to lead this ministry initiative.
Together they believe that young people should be free to have their questions answered and that God is not intimidated by doubts and questions.
In fact He welcomes them!
